We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with Australia for Cedar Tanzania (ACT), which will provide greater support for vulnerable communities, especially women and children, in north-west Tanzania.

Action on Poverty will bolster support for ACT’s aid and development programs in the north-west Mwanza region, where people struggle to access clean water, sanitation, education, and health care.

The partnership with ACT will boost funding for these vital projects, provide organisational development and training, and strengthen programs on the ground.

“With AOP’s support, we will expand our work with disadvantaged communities in north-west Tanzania and provide more opportunities for people to access life-changing health care, education, and business training,” said Nina Hjortlund, CEO of ACT.

Around 25 million Tanzanians lack access to clean water, while 2,900 children die every year from contaminated water and poor sanitation. ACT’s programs include a health clinic with outreach service, water and sanitation projects, and business training for women, targeting some of the most vulnerable in the region.

“AOP is proud to partner with ACT to support their wonderful work with marginalised communities in Tanzania,” said Brayden Howie, CEO of AOP. “We look forward to helping ACT grow its programs and reach even more people.”

With over 50 years of international development experience combined with grassroots networks globally, AOP is ideally placed to help individuals and organisations take more effective action on poverty. Our standards for program design, financial management, and governance are examples of best practice.

“The partnership ensures that we are operating at the highest standards in the sector and gives Australian donors greater confidence that their gifts will have the greatest impact possible,” said Ms. Hjortlund.
