Our Approach
From charity to high-impact accelerator
Most development funding focuses on projects. With Action on Poverty, you build enduring solutions.
With your funding we move beyond one-off interventions to create complete, scalable solution packages combining proven evidence of impact, robust delivery systems, strong governance and financial controls, and continuous performance measurement.
This allows successful initiatives to transition from grassroots pilots into lasting structures embedded in markets, institutions, or public policy.

Invest today
Action on Poverty is a development specialist and high-impact accelerator dedicated to effective, scalable, and measurable solutions to global poverty.
The power of leverage
A hallmark of our philanthropy model is strategic leverage. By combining private capital with institutional funding, we extend the reach of every donation, and mitigate risk. This blended approach ensures outcomes remain effective, scalable, and measurable.
Your dollar plays a catalytic role. Philanthropic capital is vital, because it absorbs early risk, funds innovation and adaptation, and unlocks institutional capital.
Our evidence-based accelerator model
We source the solutions that we believe have the most potential. Our theory of change is underpinned by the Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) theory of change and evaluation framework. We identify the strong potential solutions your support will transition from grassroots initiatives into high-performance interventions.
How? Through this disciplined four-stage process:
We identify local partners who exhibit exceptional leadership. We scout for proven solutions: initiatives that have the foundational strength to scale but are currently stalled by a lack of investment and technical expertise.
We vet every initiative through three non-negotiable questions: Does it work? Does it last? Does it scale?
We embed our specialised oversight into the partner’s operations. By establishing robust financial controls and governance frameworks, we ensure the project is co-designed for lasting results.
We continuously monitor performance and accelerate validated solutions through our funding tiers to maximise Social Return on Investment (SROI) and move us closer to our 2030 million-person goal.
