If you invest in women, you invest in communities – you invest in a brighter future for the whole family.
Women make up almost 50% of the agricultural labour force in sub-Saharan Africa. They are actively involved in agriculture and food production, building and maintaining the family home, collecting water for washing and drinking and rearing the children – women are one of the most powerful agents of change in their communities.
AFAP Action on Poverty is working directly with women in Africa to realise their own potential. With just the smallest encouragement, they become decision-makers, entrepreneurs, advocates and inspirations to us all.
When given the opportunity to improve their lives, women shine.
We celebrate their stories for International Women’s Day.
