Our office manager Manjita Gurung comes from the area where the Nepal earthquake hit on 25 April. She was able to contact her family before their phones lost charge and they are thankfully all safe and sound. However they are frightened of the aftershocks and are without electricity, food and water.
The 7.9 magnitude earthquake on 25 April, and nearly 60 aftershocks, caused vast devastation across much of the country, including more than 2,000 deaths and widespread destruction of buildings. UNICEF estimates at least 940,000 children living in areas severely affected by the earthquake in Nepal are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. More aftershocks are expected.
